Effective on-load cleaning is vital for efficient plant operation
|
The
residues from the combustion of solid and liquid fuels can cause significant
problems for the operators of boiler plants, incinerators, petrochemical
plants and other heat exchange installations. Deposits which build up on
the heat exchange surfaces reduce thermal efficiency and can cause operational
difficulties. Unless an effective on-load cleaning system is installed,
the plant has to be taken out of service frequently for expensive and time-consuming
manual cleaning, adding cleaning costs and lost production costs to the
costs of reduced energy efficiency while operating. Clyde Bergemann is a worldwide specialist in the on-load cleaning of heat exchange surfaces. More than seventy years' experience in the broadest variety of technical conditions gives the company the knowledge to design and manufacture the most effective and reliable solution for every on-load boiler cleaning application.

Tough service conditions require tough equipment |
The sootblower
cleans by directing a high-velocity jet of a cleaning medium at the fouled
surface. The kinetic energy in the jet is derived from the pressure of the
blowing medium supply. Specially designed venturi nozzles optimise the power
of the cleaning jet. The cleaning medium is normally steam, although air
and water are also used. Sootblowers are available to suit a wide variety of boiler conditions and fuel types. The cleaning jet concept employed by sootblowers is very robust to changes in fuel composition, boiler operating methods and other criteria which can alter the volume and nature of boiler deposits. Clyde Bergemann sootblowers are designed to operate reliably in the unfriendly boiler environment: high-low temperature cycling, internal pressure cycling, intermittent operation, corrosive boiler gases and dirty operating conditions are all anticipated and included in the engineering of the products. Clyde Bergemann can offer other techniques for on-load boiler cleaning where boiler design and fuel type make them appropriate. These include shot cleaning equipment, rapping gears and vibration systems. Extensive experience has proved these techniques in particular applications. Retractable temperature probes are supplied for major boiler installations, based on sootblower technology. |
